Headmistress, Sydenham High School

Katharine Woodcock grew up and was educated in Hampshire before reading French and Russian at Bristol University. She gained considerable teaching experience both in the UK and abroad before embarking on her PGCE at St Mary’s College, Twickenham. Katharine comes from a long line of teachers, and her first teaching post was as a languages teacher and resident tutor at a co-educational boarding school in the Midlands.

During her career, Katharine has been a Housemistress, Head of Sixth Form, Deputy Head Academic and more recently, Senior Deputy Head of an independent day school for girls in central London. In April 2017 she moved to Sydenham High School GDST as Headmistress. Katharine is Chair of the GDST Sports Matters Committee and a passionate supporter of the arts and digital literacy in education.

Katharine loves her job and feels privileged to lead a school that educates the women of the future. She is married with two teenage children.
