Additional Information

Ghyll Royd School, Pre-School and Nursery is an independent preparatory school for girls and boys aged 2 to 11 years. Established 127 years ago, Ghyll Royd School is an accredited member of the Independent Schools Association based on the outskirts of Ilkley and ideally located for families living in or commuting to the surrounding cities, towns and villages of Leeds and Bradford. Set in magnificent Victorian buildings called Greystone Manor, Ghyll Royd School is surrounded by seven acres of fields, woodland and gardens. The manor grounds provide Ghyll Royd School, Pre-School and Nursery with excellent sports fields and outdoor facilities that create the perfect environment for a child’s development and learning.

Scholarships

Scholarships are currently available for Academic, Music and Sport and are awarded to children who academically are likely to be in the top ten percent of their class and/or displaying artistic or athletic excellence and/or excelling in a personal extracurricular activity or area of study.

Subsidised scholarship places may be offered up to a 25% scholarship reduction depending on your child’s performance on their scholarship entrance day and examinations together with musical and sporting qualifications, awards, rankings and statements from the child’s instructors and coaches. No sibling reductions are available on subsidised scholarship places and scholarships are only available for children within Key Stage 2.

Fees for Ghyll Royd School and Pre-School are reviewed annually and any changes are effective at the start of the school year.

Bursaries

Ghyll Royd School strives to make its education accessible to all. To help make this possible a number of bursaries can be awarded by the Finance Governor per academic year. Bursaries are awarded by a set criteria and are allocated in as fair a manner as possible.

All bursary awards are reviewed and revised annually to reflect any changes in fees.

Parents wishing to apply for a bursary should contact the Headteacher to arrange a visit. If after the visit they wish to seek a place for their child they should complete and return the entry and means test forms and return them to the school. The school will then notify the parents of the level of bursary available.
