St Margaret's Preparatory School

St Margaret’s is a happy and vibrant independent day school of 200 pupils with broadly equal numbers of boys and girls aged between 2-11 years. We share a 25 acre site with St Mary's and so are fortunate enough to benefit from fantastic facilities. We provide a happy and purposeful environment for all children to explore within a friendly, caring community. Our main aim is for our pupils to be inspired, not be afraid to take risks and above all, have fun and enjoy learning.

Additional Information

St Margaret’s has a positive whole school approach to the education and development of all children. We aim for every child to be confident, enjoy success and develop to their full potential, in line with their peer group. We realise that some children have additional learning needs which require particular support for these aims to be realised. Our aim is to identify children with additional learning needs at the earliest stage possible to ensure appropriate provision is made.

In order to acheive this we:

Provide a supporting, caring and accessible environment where children’s confidence and self esteem can grow

Regularly assess pupils so that those with additional learning needs are identified early

Recognise that all teachers are teachers of additional learning needs and will provide a differentiated curriculum

Assess needs and progress through regular liaison with class teachers, parents and formal assessment

Value and promote a partnership with parents enabling them to fully participate in their child’s learning

Maintain links with other schools and outside agencies

St Margaret's is delighted to be able to offer means-tested Community Bursaries for local children from Year 3.  Our intention is to extend our education opportunities to the wider community and to those children who show academic promise and demonstrate competency in the high-ability range, but whose families have limited financial means.

Additionally, we offer Bursaries of 20% fee reduction for HM Forces Personnel (or Reservists on full-time duties) with children in Year 1 and above.
