Academic Scholarships
Scholarships may be awarded for outstanding achievement in the School’s entrance papers.
Foundation Scholarships
A Foundation Scholarship may be awarded to a candidate who shows exceptional potential in three different Expressive Arts disciplines in addition to a strong academic performance in the entrance assessments. Great weight is placed upon the interview with the Principal and the pupil’s current school report.
Expressive Arts Scholarships
Scholarships may be awarded to pupils who show exceptional promise in the following disciplines: Art, Dance, Drama, Music and Physical Education. Candidates are selected on the basis of an assessment.
A Scholarship Award is held subject to a pupil maintaining a good standard of endeavour and conduct during their time at the School. Awards are subject to annual review and there is an expectation that all Scholars will set an example in the way in which they approach their studies. All scholarship holders will play an active role in the life of The Royal School.
All Scholarship Awards are an honour, carrying a nominal remission in fees of up to £1000 per annum.
Scholarships awarded at 11+ or 13+ are tenable until the end of the Upper Sixth Form; internal and external pupils are also invited to apply for Sixth Form scholarships.
Candidates who are successful in gaining a Scholarship but who require a greater remission in fees in order to take up their place may apply for a means-tested bursary. Such requests are considered independently of a candidate’s scholarship application.
