Small teaching groups, separate boarding houses and an excellent staff:pupil ratio ensure individual care and attention. The School is widely recognised for its sporting excellence. However, often overlooked are the extremely high standards regularly achieved by pupils both academically and in the arts. Overall Millfield Prep offers an unrivalled education in all areas of life.

Scholarships and bursaries enable access to the school for talented pupils who would benefit from an education at Millfield. For those entering Years 6, 7 and 8, assessments usually take place in January of the year of entry and will follow the Millfield Prep School Entrance Examinations procedure. Details are usually available by October and can be found on the Admissions section of our website.
Candidates are invited to sit for an Academic Scholarship or awards for excellence in Art, Music and Sport. Applications are also welcome from good all-rounders; boys and girls who have reached a good standard academically and who show promise in other specific areas such as music or sport.
Scholarships may be honorary or carry a fee reduction of 5-10%. A small number of Headmaster’s Awards may carry reductions in excess of 10% in recognition of exceptional excellence in a particular area or areas.
Millfield Prep will consider bursary applications from parents of children who have been awarded a scholarship but might not be able to consider the school for financial reasons. Parents can apply to have the scholarship augmented by a bursary, subject to a means test. Bursaries take the form of a fee reduction to a level dependent on the parents’ financial resources of up to 100% in exceptional circumstances. This is to uphold our powerful principle of diversity that is the Millfield Mix, making sure that those children who would best benefit from a world-class education and outstanding opportunities are able to do so. Every child matters, and we are passionate in our goal to identify the potential in each individual and do everything we can to ensure their success.
In the year to 31 August 2020, the total value of scholarships and bursaries at Millfield was £6.4 million.
