Just one mile from central Oxford and surrounded by its own grounds and playing fields, Headington Rye Oxford is an academically selective day and boarding school for boys aged 3-11 and girls aged 3-18 in Oxford established in 1915. Despite our place in the academic first division, our true strength lies in our commitment to the needs of each individual pupil. Whatever your child chooses to do in life, we can give them the skills and confidence that they need to succeed.

We currently offer scholarships to internal and external applicants in the following areas: Academic, Art, Dance, Drama, Music, Sport. At 16+, we also offer a special award to the most exceptional candidate in the following areas: Academic, Creative Arts, Performing Arts, Music, Sport, Rowing, Headmistress' Award.
Being awarded a scholarship is considered a great achievement and awards are made to recognise enthusiasm, excellence and the potential to be a leader in the scholar’s area of expertise. Most scholarships do not provide any fee reduction or financial award, however our Special Awards are worth 10 per cent of tuition fees and can be means-tested up to 100 per cent of tuition (for UK candidates) as required. Applicants are invited to an assessment day and interview and asked to submit evidence relating to the area of scholarship. All scholars are offered a place on the relevant scholarship programme for their chosen discipline, benefitting from masterclasses, specialist coaching and mentoring. Candidates may be awarded more than one scholarship where one of the awards is an Academic Scholarship.
While girls may also apply for financial assistance through our Headington Access programme, scholarships are awarded solely based on merit as a mark of distinction and an opportunity to further develop potential rather than to help fund a Headington education. Full selection and assessment information is available here. for 11+ and 13+ and here for 16+.
We offer means-tested bursaries for up to 100% of fees for local day girls living within a 26-mile radius of Headington at 11+, with additional means-tested financial awards of up to 50 per cent of day fees available at 13+. They are awarded to girls who would benefit from a Headington education but whose families would otherwise be unable to afford it and are offered on a sliding scale, based on each individual family’s financial circumstances. We are always oversubscribed and unfortunately it is not possible to offer support to all those who apply.
In some exceptional circumstances, where the registration fee and deposit would cause a family financial hardship, this may be waived. Please contact the Director of Marketing and Admissions on 01865 759115 or email admissions@headington.org for more information about financial support.
There is further information about financial assistance using the links above. Key dates about the application deadlines can be found here.
