King’s College School, Wimbledon is a kind, inclusive and purposeful community for boys aged 7-18 and girls aged 16-18. Founded by Royal Charter in 1829, as part of the university of King’s College London, intellectual endeavour and a progressive spirit have always been at the heart of life at King’s. While pupils’ exceptional success in public examinations makes King's one of the world’s leading schools, a true King’s education is so much more.

King's is committed to widening access and can provide financial support to families whose only barrier to joining is the cost of school fees. Last year we awarded bursary support totalling more than £1.3 million. We offer free (100% bursaries) and subsidised places (partial bursaries) at the main entry points to the senior school, year 7 (11+), year 9 (13+) and lower sixth (16+). As an academically selective school, all pupils must take part in the academic admissions process, including pupils whose families are applying for financial support.
Bursaries are awarded on a means-tested basis, and we treat each family as unique to ensure that you get the financial support that best suits your needs. For example, a bursary award may cover 100% of school fees plus extra costs like school uniform, lunches, trips and equipment as well. This allows us to offer talented children a King’s education regardless of their family’s financial position. We encourage any family whose only barrier to joining King’s is the cost of school fees to please visit our website or to get in touch via email (bursaryinfo@kcs.org.uk).
Scholarships are awarded to pupils who show they have great promise and potential for outstanding achievement in a particular area at 11+, 13+ and 16+:
- Academic, music and sport scholarships are offered at 11+
- Academic, art, drama, music and sport scholarships are offered at both 13+ and at 16+
Pupils can be awarded both a bursary and a scholarship. For more information about applying for a scholarship at King’s, please visit our website.
