Scholarships
Scholarships provide three possible benefits to those pupils in receipt of them. Firstly, a scholarship is a public acknowledgement of a pupil’s outstanding ability or talent; the scholarship is accompanied by recognition. Secondly, we work hard to ensure that scholarship holders receive, as part of their scholarship, educative experiences that extend and develop their talents. Holding a scholarship brings responsibilities to demonstrate positive attitudes, behaviour and commitment to pursuing excellence. Finally, a scholarship can carry some fee remission.
All scholars will receive appropriate support, encouragement and advice to make applications for awards and scholarships into senior schools. There is no guarantee however, that a scholarship won at St Michael’s will definitely lead to a scholarship at senior level.
Bursaries
St Michael’s Prep strives to enable boys and girls to benefit from the outstanding education that it provides. The governors of St Michael’s Prep School are committed to broadening access to the school by offering eligible parents/guardians financial support with the payment of school fees. Such support is known as a bursary and this may be awarded in the form of a discount on school fees, depending on the financial, compassionate or other pertinent circumstances of applicants.
The school has limited funds with which to provide bursaries and it is therefore essential that we ensure the funds are being used to assist where needed most.
Each pupil to whom support is offered must, in the opinion of the Head, be likely to make sound academic progress following admission and possess the potential to develop the quality of his or her work and benefit from participation in the wider, extra-curricular activities on offer at the school. Each applicant should also meet the St Michael’s Prep’s normal admissions requirements.
Please be aware that bursaries are only available to those in Year 3 and above.
Please be mindful of the fact that you will need to complete the normal registration process and have been offered and accepted a place before you can apply for a bursary.
If you are interested in applying for a bursary or scholarship please phone our Director of Admissions & Marketing, on 01959 526042 for further information or look at our Admissions page on our website .
