We believe that the significant advantages that our close-knit, nurturing, academically rigorous and aspirational environment provides should be available to a diverse range of talented pupils, including those whose financial circumstances would otherwise preclude them. In January 2022, Benenden School launched a new phase of its Bursary fundraising programme, Be the Change, to substantially increase the number of fully funded, life-changing bursaries the school could offer. At that time, Benenden had 8 fully funded bursary students alongside other partial bursary recipients, and we aim to increase this provision to 24 full bursaries by 2024. This challenging target is being embraced by the diverse members of our community as we aim to effect social change not just for the students but for their families, the Benenden community and for the wider benefit of society.
We are working in partnership with organisations such as Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation to identify deserving candidates who will truly benefit from a transformative education at Benenden. Former bursary students have gone to study a diverse array of subjects at university including Medicine, Criminology, English, Law and Data Science.
