Scholarships
At St Mary’s School, Cambridge, our scholarships celebrate outstanding academic, creative and sporting achievement and service to the wider community.

What we offer
Our scholarships are designed to give girls a sense of their own worth and ability, while providing an opportunity to develop their talents for their own benefit and for the benefit of others. Scholarships are offered to girls entering Year 7, Year 9 and Sixth Form.

Scholarships are usually awarded at 5 percent of the day school fees but may be worth up to 20 percent in exceptional circumstances. In the interests of inclusivity, no student will be awarded more than two scholarships with fee remission although applicants may apply for more than two.

Awards are usually valid for two (Year 7 and Sixth Form entry) or five (Year 9 entry) years. Scholarships can be purely honorary, with the fee remission donated by parents into our Bursary Fund to benefit students who would otherwise be unable to afford a place at the school.

In addition to a fee reduction, scholars receive support in their area of talent from a teacher. Scholars are expected to act as role models to their peers and contribute to wider school life, fostering a love of learning and commitment to service.

Scholarship application deadlines
Year 7 and Year 9 scholarships applications for September 2023: Deadline 9 December 2019.

Lower Sixth scholarship applications for September 2023: Deadline 15 November 2022.

For international students, there is no formal deadline for applications, and they will be considered at the Headmistress’ discretion.

All scholarships are awarded at the Headmistress’ discretion.

Bursaries
St Mary’s School, Cambridge bursaries are discretionary, means-tested and awarded on a sliding scale based on financial need. Awards are reviewed annually with the expectation that they will decrease over time in order that as many families as possible are able to benefit from the bursary funds available.

Unfortunately we regret that St Mary's bursaries are not available for international students.

Bursaries may be made to existing or prospective families. Existing families who are committed to St Mary’s School, Cambridge but whose financial circumstances have changed will be prioritised over new applicants.

The closing date for bursary applications for September 2023 entry is 31st October 2022.
