Bursaries at Bedford Girls' School

We offer means tested academic bursaries for girls from Years 7 to the Upper Sixth. Bursaries are available to both new and existing students. On average we offer 12 bursaries a year, with an average assistance of around 75% of the fees for each bursary recipient.

Bursaries include assistance with school lunch, free iPad, and vouchers towards School uniform.

Once received, the intention is for the Bursary to continue throughout the student's life at BGS, however this is dependent upon the pupil’s sustained academic achievement.

Applying for a Bursary

If you wish to be considered for financial assistance towards school fees, then please contact our Admissions Team on 01234 361918 or email: admissions@bedfordgirlsschool.co.uk for a bursary application form. The bursary application form for the academic year 2022-23 will be available from September 2021. Please contact the Admissions team. All candidates must be registered for entry before applying for a bursary.

Bursary application forms need to be returned to the Fees Manager at The Harpur Trust by Monday 1st December 2021 at the latest. We regret that applications received after this date will not be considered. Bursaries for the school year 2022/23 can only be considered and allocated at this time.

If application is within the assessable income levels your daughter will be invited into school to sit an academic assessment in January 2022. Bursaries are awarded to the top performing eligible candidates who also meet the criteria for financial assistance.

Bursary Allocation

The School Awards Committee has a finite sum available to award to pupils at their discretion. However, due to limited funds available bursaries are highly competitive with only one in five applicants on average receiving a bursary.

The decisions on bursaries are made in early February and information regarding the level of assistance that may be available to you will be contained in the offer letter posted.
