Privacy notice

The Independent Schools Council (ISC) is a membership association made up of schools within membership of one of the five Heads’ associations. ISC is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, registered with Companies House (registered number 1103760).

This privacy notice is intended to cover data collected by ISC for Research purposes. The ISC also runs an annual Census for which a separate privacy policy is available here and supports the WISC benchmarking for which a privacy policy is available here.

What we collect and what we use it for

When you complete a non-Census survey you may provide the following personal data:

  • Name
  • Email address

We use this information to contact you in the event we have queries about the data submitted or because you have asked to find out more.

ISC do not collect any identifiable personal data on pupils.

For the Exam Results survey if the auto-upload facility is used, individual results are stored, but are associated with an anonymised candidate number generated by the school’s MIS. The anonymised candidate number is generated specifically for the auto-upload and is not related to any other candidate or pupil identifier, e.g., exam board candidate number, Unique Learner Number (ULN). We use this information to calculate statistics such as exam entries per candidate.

ISC schools must highlight this disclosure of information to the ISC in their own privacy notices.

Sharing your data

We will not share your data with others. Your information will not be used for marketing purposes.
