Year 11 results: 'We hope the grades young people receive today enable them to pursue their goals with confidence'
ISC chairman Barnaby Lenon wishes all young people well as they receive their grades today, after what has been yet another difficult and uncertain year for exam pupils, as well as for wider school communities.
The ISC chairman said: "Pupils and teachers should be celebrated for everything they have achieved in an exceptionally challenging year. We hope the grades young people receive today enable them to pursue their goals with confidence, whether they are continuing their education or following another pathway.
"This year's assessment system was created in response to very difficult circumstances and taking everything into account it is a robust system. Teachers and school leaders deserve credit for their hard work and professionalism and most importantly pupils deserve to be congratulated for all they have overcome to reach this stage.
"As was the case with Year 13 results earlier this week, trying to make comparisons with previous years is neither helpful nor accurate given the unique nature of the 2021 assessment system.
"Let us all focus on celebrating and supporting this year's cohort, for whom we wish the very best."
