VAT on fees: Independent school closures are 'inevitable', warns ISC spokesperson
ISC's head of media and communications Sarah Cunnane commented on the potential impact of Labour's VAT policy and the January start date.
Ms Cunnane said: "We have significant concerns about what this policy will mean for our schools and how many will close. School closures are inevitable, sadly, and ultimately that is going to affect the families who’ve chosen to use them and is going to disrupt thousands of children’s education.
"There’s still no clarity on military families … it’s very far from the certainty that those serving our country would want. Much like with parents who have children with SEND, military families are sending their children to independent schools because it is the only option. It gives them the stability and the flexibility that they need when they could be asked to move at a moment’s notice.
"A lot of parents feel like they’ve had the rug pulled from under them unexpectedly."
