ISC chief executive welcomes Ofsted review into sexual abuse in schools
The ISC's chief executive, Julie Robinson, has said she hopes Ofsted's review "will develop practical priorities for schools to take forward in supporting their communities better than ever before in this most important area of social development".
Julie Robinson said: “The brave young men and women who have spoken out and raised awareness of this deeply distressing issue must be commended for all they’ve done to bring the problem of sexual abuse and harassment to the fore.
“We stand ready to support Ofsted with its review into sexual abuse in schools and hope it will develop practical priorities for schools to take forward in supporting their communities better than ever before in this most important area of social development.
“All relevant bodies need to work together including social care services, the NSPCC, the police and victim support groups, and of course schools will play their part in finding the most effective ways to deal with the range of issues that have come to light in recent weeks.
“This is an issue for everyone and we owe it to young people to do all we can to help tackle it."
