ISC CEO: Certain A-level and GCSE subjects at risk under government's VAT policy
ISC chief executive Julie Robinson told iNews that independent schools have said they might have to cut certain subjects to “keep fees affordable for parents while also delivering a broad and balanced curriculum”.
Amid warnings from union leaders that government funding cuts, teacher shortages and harsh grading are making it “very difficult” for state schools to run courses that attract smaller groups of students, independent school leaders have raised concerns that they could be forced to cut certain subjects at GCSE or A level due to Labour's VAT policy.
Speaking to iNews, Ms Robinson said: "Unfortunately, difficult decisions will have to be made, and this may include the choice to no longer offer certain subjects at GCSE or A level."
