Ipswich High School has a longstanding reputation for offering an exceptional education and experience to pupils aged 3 - 18. We tailor our curriculum for each individual, challenging them and encouraging growth, happiness and self-development. We are just as ambitious outside the classroom and pride ourselves on the vast breadth of our Enrichment Programme. In 2021, we won the BSA award for ‘Best Boarding House Extension or Refurbishment’ and offer full, weekly and flexi boarding.

Ipswich High School, is a vibrant day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 5-18, set in an idyllic 87-acre campus in Woolverstone on the banks of the River Orwell. With approximately 450 pupils, everyone at Ipswich High School is well known and nobody is left out. We have small classes of hard-working pupils and inspirational teachers who help to instil a love of learning; the results of which are exceptional academic outcomes year-on-year.
We are just as ambitious outside of the classroom and pride ourselves on the huge breadth of our co-curricular programme as well as offering a home-from-home boarding environment in our stunning newly developed boarding house.
Above all, our ambition is not to make our pupils fit a pre-defined view of what they should be. We believe in getting to know every pupil and using our school to inspire them to achieve more than they previously thought possible and to leave us believing there are no limits to what they can achieve, for themselves and for others.
Find out about scholarships for this school here.
Our Woolverstone Scholarship Programme is for our scholars from Years 7 -13, with scholarships being awarded in Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12.
The aim of this programme is to ensure that our scholars are able to continue to develop their considerable talents by providing them with additional support from staff across the Senior School. Academic Scholars are supported to complete independent scholar projects, whilst Sport Scholars, Music Scholars, Art Scholars, Dance Scholars and Drama Scholars will enjoy scholarship programmes designed by the relevant Head of Department. These scholars are also able to access the academic scholar projects should they wish to do so.
Scholarships are prestigious and are highly valued by university admission tutors. The accolade, kudos and sense of achievement is considerable for both the student and the school.
